Meet G+S

G+S Heating Air Energy Services started out as G+S Metal, founded in 1959 by Jack Goodnight and Craig Satterwhite (who contributed the G and S in “G+S”). They chose to add “Metal” to the name because they made all of their metal ductwork in-house – a philosophy of customized and exceptional customer service that lasts to this day.

In the fall of 2010, the current owners, Robert and Camille Kanofsky, took over the reins. When they did, they wrestled with the existing name. Even though “G+S Metal” was a staple in the community for over 50 years, the term "metal" did not speak to new customers looking for heating and air conditioning services. So they honored the history of the company by keeping “G+S” and rebranding the “Metal” with “Heating Air Energy Services”.

You can also see the tradition and the history in the company’s slogan: “Honest. Fair. Reliable. Since 1959.”

You can also see the original commitment to the community in the G+S team. We are a part of the Cabarrus, Rowan, and Lake Norman communities, so we have to face our customers whenever we go out to grocery shop or catch a bite to eat in a local restaurant. So it’s important in our day-to-day operations to treat all our customers honestly, fairly, and with respect.

This connection to the community inspires us to give back as much as we can. For instance, we sponsor Saving Grace Farms, where children with physical or mental disabilities work with horses for therapy. We have also donated all the time and equipment for building a Habitat for Humanity house. Meanwhile, Robert is a member of Kannapolis Rotary, which does service projects within the community, and a past President of the Kannapolis Business Alliance, an organization of local businesses. We also participate annually in the Kannapolis Christmas Show.

With this foundation of history and tradition, however, we’re always looking forward. In addition to the goal of expanding our energy services, growing our service area range, and more, we are always looking to improve our customer service. Because if anything defines G+S, it’s the old adage that “As things change, they stay the same.”
